Just pausing for a moment

So here I am, its Friday evening and in less than 48 hours I will be lining up at that starting line. It will be for my first ever half marathon. An event I have trained all summer and fall for, a distance I have never completed to this date.

13.1 you guys. Last year at this time I was lucky to run 6 without stopping and even better yet, without feeling like I would keel over dead. I have learned so much in this last year of running and pushed myself to distances and depths of training I never dreamed of.

Although this is my body and brain that has gotten me this far, I have not done it alone. I don't think I could have. I have had amazing support from family, friends, coworkers, Team in Training mates, and you, my awesome readers and blogger friends. It has been pretty cool to see some of you also training your first and running into some of the same struggles and questions that I have.

I have had the opportunity to reconnect with a friend that I used to semi-work with that I met right out of college and train with her. She is a much better runner than I, in my opinion, and she has pushed me to better myself. She has given me some great pointers and seriously challenges the heck out of me. I remember one week going to my parents after a shorter run with her (7 or 8 I think?) and barely being able to walk without EVERYTHING hurting. She really pushed my pace and even though I ended up taking at least a walk break or two, kept up with her pace for the first half of the run. The back half I was too exhausted and thought I might die. I do owe a lot to her and am so happy to have had the chance to run with her so much. And don't tell anybody I told you this, but she might have the ability to convince me to train for a stinkin full marathon in the next year. But shhhh.

If you don't already follow me on IG, please do HERE. I will be posting pics of pre-race stuff and all that jazz that probably won't make it here until Monday.

Until then... keep me in your thoughts and I hope to live to tell the story of my first half marathon :)

Are you racing this weekend? Any firsts for you?!
