Awesome news!!

Image
I know. I am totally falling behind again. I have been preparing to move to work from home and, oddly enough that takes a lot of energy. That's besides the point though!! The real reason I am here to post is because I got some great news today. A few weeks ago, I found out that a pretty awesome sock company,  Crazy Compression , was looking for ambassadors. I don't know if you know this, but I am kind of a sock snob. Ever since I got more serious about running, socks became a very important piece of my running wardrobe. Choose the wrong ones, they slide, bunch, fall down, or make my feet too stinkin' hot! I have news for you all.. these are the real deal. They are made in the USA, are great quality, and even affordable. I have tried the socks and sleeves and love both. The patterns are out of this world but if you prefer solids, they have those now too. Not into tall socks while you run? No problem! They have low runners now too- on my wishlist so stay tuned. Garden Spot Village 13.1

Yes! I did it. I completed my 4th half marathon and my 2nd for the year. I knew it would be a tough one as it was rumored to be hilly. It most definitely did not disappoint. We arrived Friday to get our "packets" which included our race shirt, a nice drawstring bag with the races logo, and some other odds and ends. There was also a digital coupon guide that was emailed to us. We paid our money for the all you can eat pasta dinner and ate as much as our bellies would let us. Once we couldn't eat another bite, we loaded back into the car and headed to our "home" for the night. It was about 15 minutes away from the race location and pretty inexpensive. Neither of us slept well  and we seemed to be able to hear quite a bit of noise from the neighbors, which was a bummer. But it was clean, warm, and an easy place to get to. It was an older motel and each room had a little area of the balcony and a beautiful country view.  Saturday we woke up shortly...

Capital 10 Miler recap

Image
Only took me a week to sit and write about my most recent race. I didn't talk about it at all besides the day or so before hand. To be honest, I wasn't really all that excited about it until the internet was all abuzz. It was a local race and in an area I seriously run ALL. THE. TIME. I was really just looking forward for company for a 10 mile run and that was about it. But then I realized how many of my running family would be there and all the people I would get to see. The beautiful weather forecast didn't hurt either!! Saturday afternoon, I picked up my race packet and then a nice early dinner of the awesome deep-dish pizza @ Little Caesars. Oh my, that stuff is heavenly.  Sunday morning, the race started at 9:00 am. I arrived by 8:15 to give myself time to make my way from the car to the  Girls on the Run (Solemates)  tent to say hello before the start. One super sweet perk of this being a designated Solemates race, was our own porta-potty! I...
